Abstract: Abstract We discuss ways to address challenges that arise when leading a team of highly educated volunteers from a wide variety of cultures. We use initiatives that rely on volunteers (Teaching Effectiveness Colloquia, Wiley Encyclopedia of Operations Research and Management Science, and INFORMS Transactions on Education) to provide examples for discussion.
