Getting Serious
Hermann Simon
Chapter 4 in Many Worlds, One Life, 2021, pp 53-65 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract How do you decide on a field of study? My interest in business and economics grew during my military service. The University of Bonn, Germany’s leader in economics, was a natural choice. So I got serious. But learning is not only about studying. Social and political experiences are just as important. New opportunities opened up, and I focused on marketing with the ambition to find ways to combine theory and practice more effectively. The world of academics and research had captured me, and I began to build my international academic network.
