Chapter Chapter 6 in Modern Classics in Entrepreneurship Studies, 2022, pp 113-154 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter summarizes an article by Kuratko (Entrepreneurship: Theory & Practice 29(5):577–597, 2005) and critically assesses its value as a modern classic (i.e., explains why this article is a “modern classic”…high citation rate, comprehensive review of sources of entrepreneurial understanding, a declaration that questioning the ability to teach entrepreneurship is obsolete, a summary of themes central to entrepreneurship research and education, a thorough review of the state of entrepreneurship education, enumeration of ten challenges to entrepreneurship education, a motivating call to action, and accessible/readable language presented with rigor). Then the ideas in the article are compared to what we know today to assess how the ideas in this work have held up over time. In hindsight, this article may represent a tipping point in the entrepreneurship literature, a point where the legitimacy and professionalization of entrepreneurship education was recognized.
