Chapter Chapter 2 in Travel Industry Economics, 2021, pp 57-159 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews the history, economics terminology, accounting, and marketing aspects that affect the global airline business. It shows how important technology and marketing investments shape the competitive playing field and why running a modern aviation enterprise is so capital intensive, complex, and sensitive to overall economic conditions. It also provides balance sheet guidelines that can be applied to financial analysis of all travel and tourism companies.
