Chapter Chapter 7 in Travel Industry Economics, 2021, pp 309-340 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews all aspects of tourism, describes terminology, growth and economic aspects, and travel laws and regulations. An overview of how tourism and tourists may be classified and how this all relates to marketing and macroeconomic features is explored with the special emphasis on multipliers and the pros and cons regional development. From this it becomes evident that there are important benefits but also major costs (pollution, traffic, cultural displacements, etc.) involved in the propagation of tourist-related activities.
