Chapter 8 in Overcoming Overtourism, 2021, pp 95-100 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Overtourism has been recognized and discussed as a problem in both traditional and new media. The severe negative effects have become obvious to many people: overuse and the resulting destruction of the cultural sites; emissions, pollution, waste, and noise; improper behavior and crime; and exploding traffic. In contrast, the benefits have been largely neglected. Without serious efforts to counteract overtourism, the impact on those affected by the sheer numbers will intensify.
