Abstract The USA, the UK, Israel, Germany, and Singapore—these are some of the countries that might come to one’s mind when thinking about competitive and innovative start-up ecosystems. Russia, on the other hand, is usually associated with a commodity-based economy, mighty oligarchs, and cumbersome state-owned holdings, but not with a thriving start-up community.
