Abstract:
Abstract The Russian economy is still undergoing profound social and political change and displays many characteristics of an emerging market. Like the other BRIC countries, it offers an enormous growth potential that attracts international investors to the Russian stock market. Due to the high dependency of the economy on natural resources and the generally low productivity, the Russian stock market and the oil price have been often tightly correlated in past periods. Not for the faint-hearted, the investment risk in Russia is higher in comparison with markets of developed countries and thus offers higher yields for most financial instruments.
