Chapter Chapter 7 in Africa's Agricultural Renaissance, 2021, pp 221-236 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Odusola’s regional comparative analysis reveals the imperatives of history, narratives, and contexts for agricultural transformation in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. He explains the key drivers of each region’s green revolution and their implications on the environment and ecology, and examines how amenable they are to the current global economic architecture—as well as possible lessons for Africa, including cross-regional development exchanges. The chapter explains why the different approaches adopted in Asia and Latin America yielded different results on poverty and exclusion reductions and shows the dynamics and successes of agricultural transformation, agriculture-based inclusive development, and drivers of progress in Africa. Based on the various scenarios examined, Odusola concludes that an inclusive and sustainable green revolution in Africa is possible.
