A chapter in The Palgrave Handbook of Minority Entrepreneurship, 2021, pp 503-561 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Using a systematic literature review, this chapter examines the evolution of the field of minority entrepreneurship from its origins in the 1940s, through to the start of the 2020s. It highlights the major authors and most significant publications, as well as the main areas of research focus, methodologies used and key findings. While the field has developed into a multidisciplinary domain, encompassing a wide range of specialist sub-domains, it has become fragmented, and suffers from a paucity of clear definition, and problems of methodology, motivation and focus. Despite raising these concerns, the chapter provides a detailed discussion of the future directions that researchers in this field can follow. It concludes with the view that the field offers some exciting opportunities for future research.
