Chapter 5 in Corporate Citizenship, 2021, pp 159-189 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Many industries in Botswana are increasingly embracing corporate citizenship/corporate social responsibility, primarily because of the goodwill that they derive from local communities, regulatory agencies and the society in general when corporate citizenship is practised. However, interest in corporate citizenship seems to converge on issues related to business ethics, HIV and AIDS, and economic and philanthropic outlooks of the company rather than on occupational health and safety, particularly ergonomics. However, corporate social responsibility can be proffered to employees via good ergonomics practices. Poor ergonomics can seriously affect the well-being of employees in the workplace, thereby reversing the company’s gains accrued by participating in corporate social responsibility.
