Chapter 6 in Microentrepreneurship in a Developing Country, 2021, pp 121-128 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter analyses microentrepreneurship in light of the previous chapters of this book, which provide insights into the nature of entrepreneurship in a developing country. It links the occupational choice of individuals and entrant firms’ start-up size in the spatial context that simultaneously determines the two processes. This link is established using a simple model of occupational choice, firm start-up size and the spatial location. Furthermore, this chapter summarizes the main insights into the returns to occupational choice and links the dynamics of entrepreneurship to the process of economic development.
