Chapter 2 in Technology Meets Flowers, 2021, pp 23-50 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The details and complexities of bulb breeding are presented. The appointment of Carolus Clusius as Professor of Botany at Leiden University in 1593 was the beginning of the bulb and flower industry in the Netherlands. Recent new breeding technologies will be explored, including genetic editing and bulb propagation methods, which have the potential to unleash a Cambrian explosion of flower types.
