Abstract:
Abstract This introductory chapter presents the scope of the book and summarizes its main theme, the role of commercial banks in supplying inside money with loans to the economy in addition to outside money. The focus is on the relevant agents that compose a monetary system along with updated data, for example on the saving ratio.
