Chapter 10 in Focus, 2021, pp 159-172 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract A CEO adds the most value by enabling senior executives develop a strategy that focuses, sequences, and prioritizes their time and work, the company’s initiatives, and the employees’ efforts. Strategic CEOs do not devolve into project managers, or counselors-in-chief for their senior executives, or firefight every battle facing the company. Like the CEOs of Exterior, ABCO, and FACILITYCO, they create customer value and increase sales by developing and implementing a robust strategy process. The chapter outlines specific steps that CEOs, senior executives, and companies can take to strengthen their strategy process. It concludes with a robust strategy planning framework consisting of five repeatable and predictable milestones that occur in a company’s strategy planning journey. Board members, CEOs and senior executives can use them to improve their strategy planning quotient and measure the success of their company’s strategy planning journey.
