Chapter Chapter 2 in Geopolitical Risk, Sustainability and “Cross-Border Spillovers” in Emerging Markets, Volume I, 2021, pp 83-136 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides a necessary review and critique of the traditional definitions of Geopolitical Risk (GPR) and Transition Economies, which is relevant given the major political, social, economic and psychological global crises that occurred during the last fifteen years (COVID-19; Regulatory Convergence; Trade Wars; Protectionism; the rise of the Far-Right and Nationalist movements in various countries; the Global Financial Crisis of 2007–2014; constitutional amendments in various countries etc.). The chapter also discusses the literature on Cross-Border Spillovers, Social Capital and Social Networks, all of which are critical elements of Geopolitical Risk.
