Chapter Chapter 2 in Beyond D&I, 2021, pp 29-60 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The courageous leadership exemplified by Nelson Mandela in the racial integration of South Africa, not least its national rugby team, the Springboks, offers a masterclass in diversity and inclusion. Such leadership is still in demand today. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted serious disparities in access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunity for minorities which existed long before the pandemic. Globally, gender parity is lagging in economic participation and opportunity.
