A chapter in The Digital Journey of Banking and Insurance, Volume II, 2021, pp 135-153 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Agent-based modeling is a versatile approach that can be used to simulate the balance sheet dynamics of banks in a competitive macroeconomic environment. This chapter describes the technical aspects of an actor-oriented implementation of a Balance Sheet Dynamics Simulator that uses the software development kit of Simudyne. The authors explain technical challenges and describe a setup that utilizes the distributed computational capabilities of a Hadoop cluster to achieve better performance and scalability of the model.
