Chapter Chapter 12 in Not Paying the Rent, 2021, pp 157-166 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Dr. Hannes Warnecke-Berger responds by nuancing the marginality concept both in academic scholarship as well as updating it amid rapid urbanisation. With those insights, he sheds a light on the several complexities on the policies and political solutions proposed. In order to suit the current global situation of labour surplus, the model needs to be extended as well as embedded into a broader rethinking of the role of economic structures. The political nature of the class struggle of labour against capital rests on the issue of productivity increases, but the stone-for-cash scheme illustrated crucially does not change labour’s productivity.
