Abstract:
Abstract Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to conduct comprehensive research of the peculiarities related to Socially Responsible Investing, reveal reasons behind the emergence of green finance and assess the consequences of Green investing for the performance of the financial system. Design/methodology/approach: Socially Responsible Investing is an investment strategy that is about generating income and providing social benefits. Socially responsible investors invest in companies that are ethical and morally correct. First of all, these are companies that contribute to environmental protection. In recent decades, society has seriously thought about environmental problems. Green finance is a unique technology of social investment. Green finance includes special instruments of the securities market and measures of state support for the green economy. In world practice, the term green finance means improving the environment, mitigating the effects of the global climate and more efficient use of resources. Green finance includes financing and risk management of environmental projects. For the study, the author used methods of classification and comparison, and an analysis of statistics. Findings: The article examines the features and types of socially responsible ethical investment in the context of a green economy and presents an analysis of the development of sustainable investments in the world. The author analyzed the strategies of socially responsible investment, types of investment activities. The article examines the world and Russian experience of green investments, identifies the problems of the Russian SRI market, and considers the prospects. Originality/value: The author concluded that SRI help protects the interests of future generations in terms of ensuring environmental safety and preserving the environment. Besides, in the face of uncertainty in the development of the global economy, SRI is a protective financial instrument that provides investors with income.
