Chapter Chapter 1 in Introduction to Matrix Theory, 2021, pp 1-30 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Using linear equations as motivation, the notion of a matrix is introduced. The basic operations on matrices such as addition and multiplication of matrices, transpose and adjoint of matrices, and inverse of a matrix are explored. Using these operations different kinds of matrices and inverse of a matrix are discussed. Further, using elementary row operations, the row reduced echelon form of a matrix, trace and determinant of a matrix are computed.
