Abstract:
Abstract We have studied the impact of Covid-19 on the hospitality sector in India. As firms in this sector have different business models like travel aggregator, high-end hotel chain, budget hotel chain, sharing platform, hybrid model, etc., we have studied the response of firms from different business models. We have used social media analytics (SMA) for this study where we have extracted the tweets for 6-month period in both pre- and post-Covid (first wave) scenarios. We have studied the construct of the tweets, key themes and their associated words, and sentiments of these tweets and compared the response of different firms. The comparative studies suggest that firms with different business models have reacted to the Covid situation differently which has been reflected in their social media communications as well.
