Chapter Chapter 10 in Analysis of Data from Randomized Controlled Trials, 2021, pp 151-155 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter several sample size calculation formulas are introduced. They include the standard sample size calculation formula for both continuous and dichotomous outcomes as well as the adjustments for either clustering (i.e., for a cluster RCT) or designs with more than one follow-up measurement. Besides the formulas and an example how to use the formulas, the chapter also includes a discussion about the necessity of performing a sample size calculation.
