Abstract:
Abstract Investment is an important way to earn income and accumulate wealth in the modern world. This chapter provides an overview of investment basics. It explains the time value of money as a basic principle in finance. The chapter describes the process of creating a standard investment plan. It discusses the definition of investment objectives and the importance of risk tolerance in determining asset allocation. Investment constraints such as time horizon must be properly considered before a suitable portfolio is designed to fulfil investment objectives.
