Chapter 10 in Social Impact Measurement for a Sustainable Future, 2022, pp 189-209 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In South Korea, several government departments have developed social impact assessment tools. These tools are used to screen and monitor hybrid organisations, alongside tools developed by non-profit and private organisations. While each tool has different purposes and roles, there have been limited efforts to classify them in Korea. This chapter will categorise these existing Korean tools using the seven variables of analysis developed by Grieco et al. (Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, 44, 1173–1193, 2015). In doing so, we aim to capture tensions between different stakeholders in defining social impacts by comparing the existing Korean SIA tools. Practically, this chapter supports policy-makers and social entrepreneurs to identify the most suitable tool for their organisational purposes, which can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals [Relevant SDGs: SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals].
