Chapter Chapter 1 in Governance Models for Latin American Universities in the 21st Century, 2021, pp 1-17 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter lays down the foundation stone for the rest of the book chapters. This chapter analyzes the trends and tendencies occurring in the education industry, especially in the higher education sector given the far-reaching and ever-lasting impacts of global pandemics and epidemics such as COVID-19 and the technological revolutions. The chapter highlights the role of university governance models in addressing diverse challenges that encounter higher education institutions. In essence, the chapter proposes that the university governance model in Latin America and elsewhere must be reconfigured, reshaped, and refocused. Features such as agility, dynamism, and being state-of-the-arts should be at the heart of the future university governance model.
