Chapter Chapter 1 in U.S. Mergers and Acquisitions, 2021, pp 1-13 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Mergers & Acquisitions are a means of creating shareholder value by exploiting synergies, increasing growth, replacing inefficient managers, gaining market power, and extracting benefits from financial and operational restructuring. However, for value to be created, the benefits of these motives must exceed the costs. Growth is often considered vital to the health of a company. A stagnating company may have difficulty attracting high-quality management.
