Abstract: Abstract This chapter, “Introduction and Overview: The Rise of the Korean Auto Industry,” provides an overview of volume 1. After its introduction section, the chapter draws upon some of the most important English-language scholarship to delineate the Korean auto industry’s four historical stages of development between 1962 and 1996. It then offers brief summaries of the ten remaining chapters of the book and some background information regarding the research conducted to complete this manuscript.
