Abstract:
Abstract The importance of bonds as a financingfinancing tool is indisputable. There have been periods that were rather quiet for the bond – and overall fixed incomefixed income – markets and posted a nice positive performanceperformance; however, there have also been crisis periods that have put the bond markets under pressure. The latest financial and sovereign crisescrises left their marks in the bond markets in several ways, so as to make the investigation between bonds and crisesbonds and crises intriguing. In this chapter we attempt to further analyze the behavior of bonds in times of crisis and comprehend the impact of a crisis to theprice, liquidity and issuance of bonds and at the same time realize whether bonds and fixed income instruments fixed income instrument in general may contribute to the expansion of a crisis. This chapter exposes the reader to the attitude of bonds in times of crisis.
