Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides an introduction to the subject of cryptocurrency compliance and operations. It begins by outlining the historical role of fiat money and discussing the characteristics of cryptocurrencies. Next, we discuss the development of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). We then proceed to outline the distinctions between different types of digital assets including tokens and stablecoins. We then discuss the role derivatives play in cryptocurrency investing.
