Chapter Chapter 11 in Cryptocurrency Compliance and Operations, 2022, pp 205-221 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides an overview on a wide array of different operational and compliance-related functions that are in place with regard to the cryptocurrency space. We begin with a discussion of considerations related to management and performance fees charged by the funds managed by crypto asset managers. As part of this conversation, we discuss performance fee variability among crypto funds, share class variations and sales charges. Next, we discuss the anti-money laundering procedures involved in crypto exchanges. The chapter then turns to a discussion of the use of crypto tumblers in money laundering including regulatory case studies. Finally, the chapter concludes with a discussion of the interaction of cryptocurrencies and the dark web and the use of cryptocurrency for ransomware attack payments.
