Abstract:
Abstract The development and dissemination of an entrepreneurial culture is an intrinsic and invaluable element in creating scalable and sustainable economic development and growth for different countries across the Arab world. Consequently, startups’ role can never be discounted when it comes to creating jobs, especially in a region characterized by a massive portion of its population being both young and increasingly tech-savvy. Focusing on stimulating an entrepreneurial culture and formulating an ecosystem that enables it to grow and impact society is becoming integral in development and economic prosperity, especially when the role of innovative and emerging technologies is taking center stage. This chapter highlights the impact of entrepreneurship on the cultural mindset and the economies in the Arab world that are seeing healthy and steady growth in innovative startups, especially in countries like Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates through the lens of the experience of the School of Business at The American University in Cairo and its role in growing and enriching a nationwide entrepreneurial ecosystem that has been steadily influencing the job market while creating opportunities as well as different self-employment options that are helping to transform many lives and livelihoods.
