Chapter 7 in Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship in the MENA Region, 2022, pp 187-218 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The liberalization and privatization of African economies are generating a profound reconfiguration of the relationship between private entrepreneurs, states, and civil society. During the last two decades, observations of Algerian entrepreneurs show that they face paramount institutional pressures, which they must strategically manage to ensure the sustainability of their businesses and entrepreneurial activities. Focusing on an overlooked phenomenon in North Africa, this chapter qualitatively analyzes the strategies adopted by four Algerian entrepreneurs to respond to the institutional pressures they face in a dynamic and turbulent institutional context marked by complexity.
