It has been half a decade since this earthquakeEarthquakes and even today NepalNepal struggles to cope with its socio-economic implications and damages. This paper takes the example of the severely impacted city of BhaktapurBhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley to understand the prevalent vernacular housing structures in NepalNepal and the current housing problems in the Kathmandu Valley. This paper analyses the current policy recommendations put in place by the Government of Nepal post the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake Government to address these challenges and the shortcomings of these policies.
