Abstract: Abstract The announcement by the European Union in 2005 of sweeping changes to its sugar regime, including a reduction in the guaranteed price paid for ACP imports, in response to the successful challenge in the WTO of this regime by Australia, Brazil and Thailand, was like a death knell to both Government and interests in the sugar industry in Jamaica.
