Chapter 11 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 65-71 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Today, global exports are two thousand times higher than they were 100 years ago. From 1990 to 2010, there was a phase of hyperglobalization. Since 2021, we observe a period of relative deglobalization with exports growing more slowly than the global GDP. However, service exports are still growing faster than GDP. Foreign direct investments show high volatility on an annual base but are becoming more significant in the long term due to the cumulative build-up of the capital stock.
