Chapter 16 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 115-125 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The future of the Hidden Champions will be spurred on by new driving forces. Business ecosystems, digitalization, sustainability, and innovations have the strongest influence. New ecosystems are emerging from traditional industry clusters. Examples are medical technology and photonics. Such systems make an enormously important contribution to education, culture, and prosperity in the regions. Entrepreneurial ecosystems enable Hidden Champions to cope with the higher complexity of products and services. This trend calls for a departure from the traditional closed nature of the Hidden Champions towards more openness to cooperation.
