Chapter 19 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 151-163 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract A company can only become and remain a Hidden Champions through continuous innovation. Hidden Champions invest twice as much into R&D than other companies. More importantly, they have five times as many patents per employee as the average firm. Their innovations are predominantly incremental and only occasionally of the breakthrough type. They integrate technology and customer needs in lean innovation processes.
