Chapter 2 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 7-11 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Companies, not the state, determine a country’s export success. In most countries, this export success depends on the number of large corporations. In the two most successful export countries, China (no. 1 in absolute exports) and Germany (no. 1 in per-capita exports), this is different. China and Germany are the two winners of globalization, and in both countries the Hidden Champions and SME’s determine the superior export performance.
