Chapter 24 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 195-204 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Like all companies the Hidden Champions are exposed to competition and not immune to its challenges. Hard competitive advantages remain relevant, but soft advantages such as advice, systems integration, and ease of use are becoming more important. Price is a competitive disadvantage of the Hidden Champions. In order not to lose price-sensitive customers some Hidden Champions introduce less expensive alternatives (LEAs). Lighthouse projects allow some Hidden Champions to position themselves as the "one and only."
