Chapter 28 in Hidden Champions in the Chinese Century, 2022, pp 233-243 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract My view on the future of the Hidden Champions is more nuanced than in my earlier publications. Some Hidden Champions operate in sunset industries such as the combustion technology and it is unlikely that all of them will succeed in developing new businesses with equally strong market positions. Many other Hidden Champions are in sunrise industries with dazzling prospects. Specialization and depth are strengths that will continue to be important in the future. Choosing the best location for each activity requires a truly global orientation. The same is true with regard to capital markets and the recruitment of top talent. The leaders of the Hidden Champions must become true global citizens. Hopefully many of them will prefer lasting entrepreneurial fame to quick money.
