Chapter Chapter 12 in Essays in Economic History, 2022, pp 205-215 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract New U.S. long-run series of value of the consumer bundle, number of consumer units, average size of the consumer unit, and the consumer price index are presented. There can be a substantial difference between value of the consumer bundle and average household consumption, with the latter overestimating the consumer expenditures of decision-making units. The new series of average hourly compensation generally exhibits higher growth than existing wage series.
