Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we discuss the advances of queues with variable service speeds Variable service speeds. We start with queueing models with vacationVacation or setup timeSetup time which are motivated from the optimization of operating cost such as power consumption in data centers. Next we survey models with infinitely many servers. Major theoretical results are summarized and commented. We also present some open problems.
