Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we review competitive facility location models and solution methods designed for finding the best locations for the new facilities. The problem is finding the location of one or more facilities among existing competing facilities. The facilities attract demand generated by customers in the area. The objective is to maximize the market share captured by the new facilities. It is assumed that customers divide their buying power among facilities according to the facilities’ attractiveness and their distance relative to other facilities. Many models to estimating the market share and extensions of the basic models are described.
