Chapter Chapter 5 in Policy Responses to the Interwar Economic Crisis, 2022, pp 173-199 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In transitioning from democracies to dictatorships, this chapter must first ask and resolve where, not if, the two groups differ in approaching the economy. The first section analyses the German response in its Weimar and Nazi phases. Similarly, the second section examines the Austrian response in its pre- and post-democratic breakdown phases. The Italian response is dealt with as a whole in the third section.
