A chapter in Handbook of Smart Energy Systems, 2023, pp 361-365 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Wind farms are comprised of large, expensive wind turbines. The bigger the turbine, the more power it is capable of producing. These wind farms are frequently located in remote areas and require high reliability, and the monitoring and controlling of such farms are very tedious. Wind farms may be located far inside the sea, between the mountains, or in forests. Thus, when minor faults occur, the people have to go to that particular location for fault clearing. It requires a lot of manpower and time, and faces severe economic difficulties. These limitations can be overcome by the use of the Internet of Things concept. Most of the existing products use memory cards or PCs for data logging. This stored data is accessible only on that particular PC. This limitation is also addressed by IoT technology.
