A chapter in Handbook of Smart Energy Systems, 2023, pp 3235-3260 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Shortage, high price, and environmental pollution from fuel-based vehicles are raising concerns for future transportation systems. Wider adoption of electric vehicles is the potential solution to all the above problems, providing a pathway for breakthrough innovations in connected and automated transportation systems. The growth of electric vehicles has shifted focus on charging infrastructure, especially the deployment of wireless charging technology on pavements. Static wireless charging technology has been standardized by SAE, whereas the development of dynamic wireless charging technology on roads is still in a nascent stage. The objective of this chapter is to provide practitioners and researchers with a comprehensive review of research trends on key technical, design, system, and technological aspects of both static and dynamic wireless charging to provide a guide to prospective future research directions.
