Chapter Chapter 6 in Money Talks, 2022, pp 91-106 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract If there is a contemporary equivalent to the Pied Piper, shrouded in green, luring the children of the revolution away from the safety of their village, Alan Greenspan seems to fit the bill. This chapter explores how Greenspan led the children of our community to embrace the merits of the free market, dismantling years of government safeguards that had been put in place to ensure that we would never again repeat the macroeconomic errors that led to the Great Depression. It also charts how Greenspan dramatically changed the role the Fed chair played in society.
