Abstract: Abstract The awareness of “society” emerged in the nineteenth century with the establishment of the labor market and the occurrence of the “social problem” related to unemployment and the increasing ranks of the poor (Polanyi 1944). That is, “society” was an emergent category (Poovey 2002).
