Economic Development with High Wages: An Historical Perspective
Morris Altman ()
Chapter Chapter 6 in Lessons from a Successfully Export-Oriented, Resource-Rich Economy, 2022, pp 199-229 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This paper argues that per capita manufacturing output was greater in Ontario than in Quebec by 1910 and that this differential increased from 1870 to 1910. Furthermore, this paper challenges the view that Ontario’s advantage in per capita output was a product of its population growing at a slower pace than Quebec’s.
